What is a Teema?

We refer to Teema’s as towels because quite literally, they are Turkish towels, but Teemas are different than what most people in the US would consider a towel. 

Teemas are flat woven, meaning they do not have exposed loops like terry cloth towels do. This means that Teemas use significantly less fabric, which makes them much lighter and faster drying than regular terry cloth towels.

This also makes Teemas much more versatile than standard towels. Their lightweight and portable nature means they can double as a shawl, scarf, throw, adult blankie, yoga mat, and more!

Are all Teemas the same?

No. Each collection varies slightly in terms of size and weight. Some have a looser weave, making them softer and more blanket-like, like the Labyrinth and Diamanté. Others have a tighter weave making them lighter and more portable, like the Simple and Layers.

How are Teemas made?

Teemas are made in Turkey using traditional weaving techniques. Some of the looms used in the production of our towels are over 50 years old and have been with the families for generations. 

Fun Fact: Jacquard looms use a series of punch cards to "program" the design of each towel, which is why many people refer to jacquard looms as the world's first computers!

What can I use my Teemas for?

Versatility is what truly sets Teemas apart from standard towels. While the most obvious use for a Teema is as a towel, many of our customers opt to use them in other ways. Because they are so much lighter, more portable, and more stylish than terry cloth, they work just as well as blankets, throws, scarves, wraps, and more!


BLANKET

Outside of being a towel, Teemas next, most obvious use, is as a blanket. Thanks to their large size and softness, Teemas make the perfect on-the-go blanket. Having a picnic at the park? Teema. Sitting around a campfire? Teema. Getting cold in between sets at Coachella? Teema. Trying to sleep on a plane but getting blasted by the AC? Teema. As you can see, Teemas are appearing in a lot of places you’d never expect to see a towel... well guess what? There's more.


SHAWL, SCARF, & WRAP

Thanks to their light fabric and stylish designs, Teemas can also be used as several different accessories/articles of clothing. Got enough sun at the beach and need a cover or wrap? Teema. Need something light enough to wear as a shawl but heavy enough to keep you warm? Teema. Looking to add to your scarf collection this winter? You guess it... Teema.

All discounts, offers, and sales are subject to change or end at any time. Unfortunately, we’re not able to apply discount codes or promotions retroactively to past orders. Yes, Teema Customer Support is available during standard business hours from Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 3 PM PST. We are not able to reply to messages on weekends. Email help@teema.co for any inquiries.

Product Care

Can I wash my Teemas?

Yes! Teemas are made from Turkish cotton, which has long fibers that actually get softer and more absorbent with each consecutive wash. That's right, like a fine wine, your Teema will get better with age. Think like that old flannel your dad has had for decades.

Because Teemas are made from 100% cotton, they do shrink a bit under heat. If you'd prefer your Teema stay its full, original size, we recommend washing under warm or cold water and hang or tumble drying. If you don't mind a little shrinkage, then feel free to wash however you please!

What if a tassel comes untied?

Fixing untied tassles is very simple. If they're braided tassles, just separate the threads into two equal sections, twist both sections clockwise, and tie a knot at the end. If they're not braided, just take all the loose threads in a bunch and retie the knot.

MY TEEMA ARRIVED WITH A SNAG IN IT, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Don’t worry — a snag won’t hurt your Teema. Simply trim the loose thread with scissors. Because of the way our towels are woven, removing the snag will not cause your Teema to unravel or come apart. If you ever notice a larger issue beyond a simple snag, reach out to our support team and we’ll be happy to help.

Shipping & returns

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping within the USA is FREE on orders over $150 (including HI and AK)

For orders below $150 shipping is calculated based on order weight.

For Canadian orders, shipping is free over $300 CAD.

International orders shipping costs vary based on weight and destination. International rates are calculated at checkout.

*We are not responsible for any import taxes and duties charged on orders delivered outside the US*

How long does shipping take?

You can expect to receive your order within 3-8 business days from placing it. If you have not received tracking information, please reach out to help@teema.co for assistance.

Orders placed Sunday through Thursday: order processing typically takes 1 business day (outside of holiday season) and orders typically fulfill overnight and ship out the next business day.

Orders placed Friday and Saturday: order processing typically happens overnight on Sunday and ship out on Monday morning.

Sometimes, order processing can take longer. We appreciate your patience!

Do you offer returns?

Yes! We offer returns on any unused items not purchased during a sale within 30 days of delivery.

Some things to keep in mind:

-We kindly ask return postage to be paid for by the customer. Proof of tracking (tracking #, or image of receipt with tracking number visible) must be sent to help@teema.co to process the return. We are unable to process returns without proof of tracking. Please do not forget this important step so we can process the return.

-We don't offer returns on orders over $300. If you're not sure if you'll keep your order, that is totally fine, we just ask that you start with a smaller order if you're considering a return.

-We don't offer partial returns on Bundles, Pairings or Sets. If you would like to return a Bundle, Pairing or Set, it must be returned entirely.

-We don't offer returns on any item marked at a 45% discount or higher, or, The Mystery Bundle

Do you offer exchanges?

Yes! Like returns, exchanges can be processed within 30 days of delivery for unused items not purchased during a sale.

We kindly ask exchange postage to be paid for by the customer. Proof of tracking (tracking #, or image of receipt with tracking number visible) must be sent to help@teema.co to process the exchange. We are unable to process exchanges without proof of tracking. Please do not forget this important step so we can process the exchange.

We are not able to offer partial exchanges on Bundles, Pairings or Sets. If you would like to exchange a Bundle, Pairing or Set, it must be exchange entirely.

CAN I MAKE CHANGES TO OR CANCEL MY ORDER AFTER PLACING IT?

We process and fulfill orders very quickly, so in most cases, we’re unable to make changes or cancellations once your order has been placed. Please double-check your shipping address and order details before checkout to avoid issues.

If you purchased Shipping Protection, your order is covered for situations like mis-delivery, non-delivery, damage in transit, or address errors. In these cases, please email us at help@teema.co, and we’ll help arrange a replacement.

If you placed your order during business hours (Monday–Friday, 9 AM to 3 PM PST) and realize there’s a mistake (wrong address, incorrect product, or an accidental order), email us ASAP with “URGENT ORDER CHANGE OR CANCEL” in the subject line. We’ll do our best to help, but cannot guarantee changes if the order has already moved to fulfillment or shipped.

For orders placed outside business hours, or outreach outside of business hours listed above, we generally cannot make adjustments before they ship, since we fulfill quickly. You can always reach out to us with the request and if still possible, we of course will make any changes necessary.

MY ORDER SAYS DELIVERED, BUT I HAVE NOT RECEIVED IT?

Please double check that the shipping address provided at checkout is correct. If so, check with your neighbors, family members who may have intercepted it, your mailbox, etc. to ensure it was not misplaced. Please allow 72 hours (minus Sunday) for the package to show up as often times they do appear.

We offer Shipping Protection on every order, which covers items/packages that are lost, stolen, or damaged in transit. If you paid for Shipping Protection and you cannot locate your package, please allow 72 hours (minus Sunday) for the package to appear. If it does not, please email help@teema.co.

If the package has not turned up in 72 hours (not counting Sundays), please reach out to us at help@teema.co.
